New CFO at the Wortmann Group

Dr Tobias Seng succeeding Dr Wolfgang Illers
Detmold, 31 May 2017 – On the 31st of May, at the end of the 2016/17 fiscal year, Dr Wolfgang Illers, the long-standing CEO of the Wortmann Group, will be retiring after more than 26 years. Dr Tobias Seng (44) will be the new Chief Financial Officer of the Detmold-based shoe manufacturer. Following his studies in Marburg, Dresden and New York, Seng was employed as a Project manager at McKinsey and subsequently worked in the commercial management of the OBI Group. In April 2015, Seng initially took over the position of Chief Financial Officer as a deputy and has been holding the office of Chief Financial Officer together with Dr Illers since January 2017.
Also following his retirement, Illers will remain on in the group of companies, thanks to his work in the Wortmann foundation. The family foundation, which was founded in 2013, holds substantial shares in the Wortmann Group and, via its foundation board, acts as a connecting link between the family shareholders and the management board.
The Wortmann Group, Detmold, known first and foremost for its Tamaris brand, belongs to the largest shoe production and distribution company in Europe and is a market leader for fashionable women’s shoes. Worldwide, the collections are offered in more than 70 countries and more than 15,000 shoe stores. Apart from the top brand Tamaris, other brands included in the group of companies are Marco Tozzi, Caprice, Jana and s.Oliver shoes. Still to be added to this is Novi Footwear Fareast Ltd. in Asia. Internationally, the group has more than 1,100 employees. Worldwide, a labour force of approx. 30,000 people produce for the company in Detmold.
