For the 12th year running, this February 2010 will see the return of trade shows LondonEdge and London Central to London’s Olympia National Hall which is joined for the second time by The Ledge Show, increasing their sector coverage from alternative and streetwear to skatewear clothing, hardwear and accessories.

GDS confirms dates for 2012 - Surveys being conducted re future GDS dates
Next year GDS - International Event for Shoes & Accessories – and GLOBAL SHOES – leading trade show for sourcing – will be held from 14 to 16 March and from 5 to 7 September 2012. For the dates from 2013 various surveys are currently being conducted at home and abroad in order to identify visitors’ and exhibitors’ views and wishes.

EXPO RIVA SCHUH INDIA: JUST RIGHT FIRST TIME
The first edition of Expo Riva Schuh India was a success: 4670 Indian and international visitors, mainly from the USA and North America, Latin America (Brazil, Colombia) and Europe (France, Germany, Italy, UK representing 8000 sales points); Asian and Middle East countries (Malaysia, Pakistan, Palestine, Arab Emirates) attended the event with its best offer of shoes, bags, belts, suitcases, wallets and leather accessories on display from 28 to 30 July in Pavilion 14 of the Pragati Maidan trade fair, in New Delhi.

Pure London Footwear and Accessory Show, London Olympia, 13-15 February 2011
The February edition of Pure London will not disappoint with an array of new and returning footwear and accessory brands. Situated on the Upper Level of London Olympia, the Accessories and Footwear sections will allow buyers the chance to source products alongside seasonal clothing trends. With 88% of buyers to Pure London interested in the Accessories and Footwear, February will see the largest selection of handcrafted jewels through to leather clutches, printed scarves and bespoke hats.

Kensington Shoe Event SS11 - September 26-28
The Kensington Shoe Event closed its doors on September 28 on yet another successful show. Popular with footwear and fashion buyers, the three-day Event has become a premier show for medium-to-high quality footwear, but it still remains deliciously compact and customer-friendly.

A whiff of sea air helps put the trade in a positive frame of find for SS ’10
It would seem from the first responses to the recent Blackpool Show, staged at the Imperial Hotel in the North Shore of the famous seaside town that we footwear types definitely do like to be beside the seaside, even in the middle of January. Visitors and exhibitors alike were pleased with the new format and the new venue. From the moment the doors of the Imperial opened on the Saturday right through to close of play on Monday evening, there was a very positive buzz running through the whole event with exhibitors reporting healthy order books and retailers showing confidence in the new ranges on show. So much so that plans are afoot to hold it twice a year with a summer show pencilled in to take place pre Moda.

Care International challenges fashion and retail sector
Leading overseas development agency CARE International is delighted to announce the launch of the fifth Prima Solutions Adventure Challenge, exclusively for the fashion and fashion retail industry. This challenge, which is supported by Footwear Today, will take place in the stunning Exmoor National Park on 22nd May 2010. Teams from across the industry will hike, bike and canoe the distance of a marathon in a day.

BUYER STABILITY SHOWS INCREASED MARKET CONFIDENCE AT LONDONEDGE
A marked increase in new exhibitors and stable buyer figures at fashion trade exhibition Londonedge shows a strengthening in this fashion sector. Managing director Carole Hunter said: "We have always had a very loyal, core section of buyers who have stuck with the show despite recent hardship in the economy but we now seeing a wider stability in buyer figures and there has been a general feel of optimism at this show."

International Golf Championship Of The Shoe, Leather & Allied Trades
The De Vere Slaley Hall resort near Hexham in Northumberland provided a first class location for the 64th Championship, with both courses in excellent condition as the PGA British Seniors Championship was the following week. At the Banquet on the Thursday night, the Chairman of the LHTBI, William Tusting, and Robert Hollidge from Footwear Friends, were presented with cheques for their respective Charities, and it is hoped that this year, despite the economic downturn that the total for the year will reach £15,000.

Prima Solutions Adventure Challenge 20th June 2009
On 20th June 2009, the Prima Solutions Adventure Challenge, supported by Footwear Today, saw teams from across the fashion industry take on a remarkable triple challenge: hiking, biking and canoeing around the Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales, whilst raising valuable funds to support the poverty fighting work of CARE International.

Fashion Industry Challenges Poverty
Teams from across the Fashion industry are already signing up to challenge themselves and challenge poverty, in the Prima Solutions Adventure Challenge supported by Footwear Today on 20th June. Taking place in the Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales, the challenge combines outdoor activities in a day of exhilarating fun. The day includes a fast-paced canoe relay, a demanding mountain biking course and a hike on the beautiful Brecon Beacons Horseshoe... all in the target time of ten hours.
