Ever wanted to do charity work but you just don’t have the time? Inundated with unwanted or old stock? Donating could be the solution.
Lincoln Valued at Oxfam has helped many local retailers to offload unwanted stock. So far this year the Lincoln-based donating service has received various donations from businesses and retailers but they still need a regular supply of donated stock to maintain their funds for overseas projects.
Shaid Ali, the owner of Lincoln designer menswear shop, Threads, donated £40,000 of womens wear stock to the charity shop after seeing images of poverty and starvation in Africa on TV. "There is so much poverty out there but we don’t bat an eyelid when we hear about it now. This was just an opportunity for me to do something positive to help people." said Mr Ali.
Designer label Hugo Boss have used the service on three occasions and children’s retailer Adams have also used the service when they look to disperse stock.
New research by Oxfam has revealed that almost a third of people have items they no longer use worth more than £500. 14% have items worth more than £1,000 which never see the light of day.
