New global freight services target small footwear manufacturers
Published:  01 May, 2007

New airfreight and seafreight services specially designed for small to medium –sized (SME) footwear manufacturers in Latin America, South Asia and the UK have been launched recently.

Specialist global freight forwarder WT Sea- Air is using its 40 years’ experience of consolidation of shared user shipments into full container loads by sea and airfreight to provide the new services at rates usually only available to large shippers of full load traffic.

The new WT Sea-Air Latin American operation provides a door-todoor service for SME manufacturers using between 15-20 major collection and delivery gateways in Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Columbia and its UK facilities in Manchester, Birmingham, Heathrow and Newcastle.

This ability to fill airfreight and sea freight containers on both legs of the journey is enabling WT Sea-Air to maintain highly competitive rates usually only available to the largest. Shippers and offer them to even the smallest shipper.

For Indian garment and footwear manufacturers, WT Sea-Air has developed a purpose-built garment on hanger (GOH) container which allows small shippers to buy space on a less than container load basis from all major Indian origination points. On sea freight services from India, the sea containers can also hold boxed shoes giving even the smallest shipper greater flexibility in its operations as well as the best price.

"WT Sea-Air is constantly looking at ways of adding value. These new services have been specifically targeted at medium-sized and small UK exporters and importers from Latin America and South Asia and is another example of our pro-active approach to always putting the needs of customers first," commented Nick Turner Sales Director of WT Sea-Air.
