What do Crazyshoes and Cosyfeet have in common?
Published:  01 May, 2007

Twenty five years ago, footwear for swollen and wide feet was hard if not impossible to find. People often had to put up with pain and reduced mobility. Some even cut holes in their shoes to make them wearable or buy expensive custom orthopaedic footwear. It was to meet this need that Cosyfeet began trading in 1984. In 1991 Cosyfeet was bought by Foot Shop Ltd, itself owned by former Clarks manager David Price.

Today Cosyfeet is the UK’s most comprehensive supplier of shoes, hosiery and care products for people with swollen feet and legs and its ethos has always been to improve its customers’ quality of life. Most Cosyfeet customers are elderly, may suffer from arthritis or diabetes and are extremely unlikely to find comfortable footwear anywhere else. It may seem surprising then that Cosyfeet is part of a growing stable of companies that boasts several younger, trendier, niche footwear businesses.

The Foot Shop Group encompasses a number of expanding and highly successful companies, all selling direct to the consumer via web, catalogue and store. Cosyfeet may be better known, but sister company Lookatmycrazy shoes.com is now the UK’s biggest online retailer of Crocs™ shoes, stocking the complete range from this hugely successful brand. The site also has a range of other fashionable shoes, bags and accessories. A recently opened Lookatmycrazyshoes.com shop in Glastonbury aims to establish a retail presence for the ‘Crazyshoes’ range.

Another of the Foot Shop companies specialises in supplying top brand shoes and socks to men with size 12-19 feet. Walktall. co.uk recently launched the biggest manufactured sock in the World and boasts a range of top footwear brands including Adidas, Nike, Asics, Dr Martens, Merrell, Sebago, Converse and Barker among others.

The youngest member of the Foot Shop Ltd clan is Healthyshoes.co.uk, stocking brands such as Scholl, Birkenstock and Earth shoes as well as being the exclusive retailer of the Crocs Rx range. The raison d’être of this innovative site is to offer shoes that are not just comfy but have added health benefits too.

Foot Shop Ltd is still a family owned group led by Managing Director David Price and employs over 110 people.
