Kickers - Autumn Winter 2010

Published:  26 March, 2010

For this coming autumn, the Kickers collection varies from the downright urban, with bright colour pops and techy materials, to a softer more natural range with soft vintage leathers and rich autumnal hues. Permeating throughout the collection, be it for men, women or littl’uns, the Kickers feel good attitude resonates. As ever, Kickers has designed shoes that make you smile.

Women

For Autumn Winter 2010, the Kickers range for women follows two distinct stories, both designed to ensure feet stay not only warm and comfy, but also firmly on trend. On the one hand, we have ‘Real Folks’, a trend of warm nature-inspired shoes in vintage materials and earthy colours. On the other hand, we have the ‘Express Yourself’ trend featuring reinvented 90’s classic styles with bold chunky silhouettes, funky animal prints and diamante and gold trims.

The silhouettes in the Real Folks trend include rounded toes on flat boots and comfy pumps. Soft leather floral trims and wintry Nordic knitting embellish the shoes. Tans and browns abound, as do plums and warm reds. Materials include hand-dyed leathers in rich colours creating a vintage and natural uneven finish. A key style in this range is the new Kick Military: the slightly deconstructed lace-up boot adds a twist of military styling onto the Kick Hi last, rendering it more natural with a crepe style sole and soft hand dyed leathers in dark colours.

The ‘Express Yourself’ trend for women includes 90-inspired hiker style boots on a chunky heel with a rubber cleated sole. Warm turned down fur collars and fur trims are a distinct feature, as are pink and gold leopard prints on the Kick Hi boot. Sparkling crystals make an appearance on metallic eyelets, alongside gold metal or leather trims. Originally a best seller in the 90’s and now re-released for 2010, the Kickers wallaby with rubber gum soles comes in a rainbow of bright colour suedes, a funky option for a cool customer.

Men

Similarly, two trends are apparent for the men’s autumn collection. Designed for rule breakers and music makers, the ‘Urban Age’ trend for men was inspired by street culture. Dark techy mesh and bright contrast colour pop create an urban sportswear vibe, celebrating the man-made. Crystal eyelets add a touch of bling. The black Kick Hi Tongues is an unabashedly urban boot with exaggerated chunky lines, double tongue and contrast colour laces in royal blue or acid orange.

In contrast to the above, the ‘Intrepid Explorer’ shoes were inspired by nature and outdoor chic. Materials include heavily washed vintage leathers, natural orange check prints, raw leather laces and nubuck leathers in rich nocturnal tones. Straight from the 1970’s Kickers archive, the Lati Lace casual with its soft luxe crinkled leathers and vintage style eyelets, is an instant classic and a celebration of the Kickers heritage. The leather lace Kick Hi Check gets a premium injection this autumn with a softer more luxurious leather that will age gracefully. The rustic check print lining adds a lumberjack twist to this ‘Intrepid Explorer’ boot.

Kids

This season, mums will be over the moon as the Kickers kids’ collection utilises much softer leathers, gentle on little feet. The girls’ trends include ‘Funky Mini Me’, which sees rounded little toes and mum-inspired brogue boots appearing in vibrant candy-like patents and shiny metallics. Sequins, satin and velvet laces, and funky prints add to the creative nature of this trend. A must-have style is the adorably fluffy boot, Plunk Bootie Animal, with its animal print and satin laces. ‘Homeland Stories’, the second trend for girls is inspired by an early autumn in the countryside. Details include floral trims and granny’s jumper knits, all in natural rich tones.

For boys this autumn winter, the ‘Brotherhood of Little Men’ trend includes warm British-feel shoes in autumnal colours. Moccasin profiles, Velcro straps and round toe boots combine to create a timeless and functional collection. Variations on the Kick Hi boot feature retro materials like soft tumbled or distressed leathers, contrast colour laces and perforated detailing, all in natural tints. On the other hand, a ‘Fast and Curious’ trend of bright happy shoes is apparent. These shoes feature flashy highlights, metal
