Start-rite appoints Sales Director for UK and Eire

Published:  06 May, 2010

Children’s shoe company Start-rite has appointed Adrian Horne as Sales Director for the UK and Eire.  This is a promotion for Adrian, who was previously Field Sales Manager at the company.

In his new position Adrian will play a strategic role in helping to grow the business while continuing to head up Start-rite’s team of regional Business Managers.  He will retain personal responsibility for two of the company’s major accounts: Russell & Bromley and Jones Bootmaker.   Adrian’s first task will be a fact-finding mission to visit Start-rite retailers - large and small - to get a fresh understanding of the challenges and opportunities which face them.

Commenting on his promotion Adrian said: “I’m looking forward to getting out on the road seeing customers and discussing ways we can work together to grow our businesses.  Times are tough in the retail business, but we have very strong products for autumn-winter including an exclusive Aqua-rite waterproof range and a trainer package we’ve created in association with Gola.”

Adrian joined Start-rite in 2003 as Account Manager for key multiple and independent retailers in the South and South East of England.  The following year he became National Account Manager with responsibility for Start-rite’s top four major accounts.  In 2006 Adrian was promoted to the role of Field Sales Manager with a team of seven Business Managers reporting to him.

Adrian has a wealth of experience in the footwear and apparel industry. Prior to joining Start-rite he spent several years in account management roles for brands including Kickers and Fila Sportswear.
