Linda Ginn, a member of the Society of Shoe Fitters, awarded MBE.

Published:  05 November, 2010

Linda Ginn a member of the Society of Shoe Fitters, was surprised and delighted to be awarded the MBE.  Whilst she is a newly qualified shoefitter, she has been a chiropodist for some time.  The MBE award was made for the work that she has set up locally where she lives in East Suffolk under the auspices of Parish Nursing Ministries UK.

Linda is a qualified nurse, and the work of a Parish Nurse is to offer whole person health care through the local church.  Linda set up a local team which offers to accompany people in their, or their loved-one's, unwellness.   This new initiative has helped so many people in the small communities where she lives, that Linda was nominated for this award.   Parish Nursing does not replace much loved and respected NHS professionals - but provides time, empathy and help in co-operation with other services.
