Obituary - DAVID GOLLLEDGE 2/03/1942-7/01/2011

We are sad to announce that David Golledge footwear agent, has passed away. David represented many companies during his long and successful career. Starting at Pococks as a young man, David went on to work for K. Shoes, Wilfords and Blu Shu amongst others. He travelled in an area covering the whole of Wales, The west Country, and as far East as Hampshire and the Isle of Wight building up a very large portfolio of customers.

He was a familiar face at the British footwear shows, where customers would often wait in line to speak to him personally. No-one else would do!! Also his knowledge and personality always ensured very good attendance at the many Hotel Stock Room shows he organised.

He retired 8 years ago after suffering a stroke, but retained a lively interest in the Shoe Trade, often offering support and advice to his friends in the industry.

David was well known loved and respected within the Shoe Trade. He was a great character, generous and openhearted, always ready with a joke and very popular with customers and friends, of which he had many. There will be a lot of people out there with "A David Golledge Story" to tell, and who smile when they remember him!

Malcolm Williams former M.D. of Blu Shu said; "David was much more than a colleague to me. He was a trusted and loyal friend. I valued his opinion and support, but most of all he made me laugh! Myself, my partner Lynne, and our family will miss him terribly!

David died on Friday the seventh of January 2011 at his home, of which he was so fond, in Bridgend South Wales. He will be hugely missed by his wife Betty, his daughters Tracey and Rachel, his sons in law Mostyn and Rochie, and his two beautiful grandchildren Carys and Tanveer.
