CAN YOU HELP SOLVE A MURDER?

Published:  19 January, 2011

Greater Manchester Police are investigating the murder of a woman in the late 1970's or early 1980's. In January 2010 contractors in Manchester City Centre unearthed a skeleton whilst clearing a piece of land for development. The post mortem revealed that she had been murdered after suffering fractures to her jaw bone, collar bone and neck. Experts have put the time of her murder between 1975 - 1985.

The police have obtained a DNA sample from the victim but her identity remains a mystery. One major line of enquiry to establish her identity and narrow down the time of her death is the clothing that was recovered with the skeleton. A ladies left shoe is one of the items the police are keen to learn more about.

The number in the heel of the shoe is NS4G with 6 - 8 underneath it. We would like to hear from anybody who has any information about this shoe.

Anyone with information should ring the Major Incident Team on 0161 856 5448 or contact DC Paul Andrews, e-mail paul.andrews@gmp.police.uk
