PUMA® serves up French 77
A Collection of "Court Classics" with a modern twist at Claridges, London
Published:  01 May, 2007

PUMA® French 77 collection made an exclusive appearance at Claridges, London, on the evening of Thursday 19th April. Model LEAH WOOD & Musician LEMAR made their catwalk debut together and teamed up with the global sportlifestyle brand PUMA® to launch French 77, a sports lifestyle collection that is inspired by the product worn by legendary playboy tennis star Guillermo Vilas in the late 70's, to model the collection on a catwalk. Top name celebrities such as Karen Millen, Freddie Ljungberg, Sara Macdonald, Dom Jolly, Nate James all attended the evening's party. Guest were treated to catwalk opening music by electronic violinist and model Linzi Stoppard and a DJ set by Dimitri From Paris with support from Blue Boy & Deep Sensation.

In addition The PUMA® Lydia Bag made its first appearance in the UK at the party. The bag, which was co-designed with Lydia Hearst's long time friends, Richie Rich and Traver Rains of Heatherette, is inspired by Lydia and is a luxurious, custom version of the brand's French 77 Racket Bag.

The French 77 footwear, apparel and accessories showcase the signature blend of sport and fashion that has come to epitomise PUMA's design direction. Reminiscent of pure Heritage pieces of the seventies, new interpretations of "court classics" with a modern twist address the need for modern, fashionable attire for men and women both on and off the court.

Tennis-inspired detailing and graphics from this era are mixed with modern street-wear style and twenty-first century materials to create fashion-forward looks with the comfort of casual sports apparel.
