Jacobson Group Inks Agreement with Daren Roe
Published: 25 January, 2011
Jacobson Group has entered into a joint venture with Daren Roe to launch a men’s fashion footwear brand called ‘Dispair’. Roe will utilise Jacobson Group’s extensive brand and footwear wholesaling infrastructure including finance, warehousing, distribution and marketing.
Roe, known and respected in the industry for his proven footwear track record, having worked with brands such as Babycham and Nanny State, will introduce the Dispair brand to the trade next month for A/W11 delivery.
Dispair, meaning ‘to split a pair’, offers a men’s footwear concept that sets the mode for creative footwear fanatics with an eye for style. Drawing inspiration from London’s East End and pushing the boundaries of men’s footwear, Roe’s plan is to build the brand slowly through the right channels. Initially focus will be on UK distribution with phase two introducing the brand into Europe. This will be supported with PR and social media to actively target the collection at the 22-35 year old male.
Titled ‘For Outlaws and Innovators’, the A/W11 range comprises dandy influenced loafers on EVA units, hybrid trainers on heavy cleated soles accessorised with hiker laces, together with vintage finished formals with leather soles and linings executed in burnished suedes and distressed leathers. Wholesale prices range from £16-£50.
Commenting on the brand launch, Roe stated: “The concept behind Dispair is to offer a unique and distinctive look. We’ve achieved this by looking at men’s footwear through the eyes of trendsetters, pinpointing elements that are important for making a footwear statement whilst pushing the limits in design.”
