EXPO RIVA SCHUH INDIA: JUST RIGHT FIRST TIME
Published: 16 August, 2011
The first edition of Expo Riva Schuh India was a success: 4670 Indian and international visitors, mainly from the USA and North America, Latin America (Brazil, Colombia) and Europe (France, Germany, Italy, UK representing 8000 sales points); Asian and Middle East countries (Malaysia, Pakistan, Palestine, Arab Emirates) attended the event with its best offer of shoes, bags, belts, suitcases, wallets and leather accessories on display from 28 to 30 July in Pavilion 14 of the Pragati Maidan trade fair, in New Delhi.
There were around 200 exhibitors, including those from Europe (from Italy,France, Spain, Austria and the UK) but also from Asia (Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Thailand and delegations from India and China).
The organisers were really satisfied with this Asian country’s first finished product exhibition for national and international buyers. Some of the main international chains were also present: CITYWALK, M&B Footwear, Metro Shoes, Regal Shoes, Reliance. This event confirmed the Indian market’s liveliness and interesting prospects. It is the world’s second footwear manufacturer and its retail footwear market is expected to grow at an annual average of 20% from 2009 to 2012.
“We are really satisfied with this start – says the president of Riva del Garda Fierecongressi, Roberto Pellegrini – with us as the first finished product trade fair event in India. To keep this project growing and develop contacts with Indian manufacturing and distribution companies we have set up the company Italian Exposition Pvt ltd, with the synergic strategy of Expo Riva Schuh International, Simest – a company financed by the Italian government – and its Indian partner Crs Global, to develop the partnership between Italy and India.”
The results of Expo Riva Schuh India went beyond most optimistic expectations and with 4670 visitors was more than double what the organisers themselves expected which was about 2000.
“These numbers give us excellent project growth prospects - Giovanni Laezza, director of Riva del Garda Fierecongressi. We inaugurated this challenge with great enthusiasm. It will take commitment and a lot of hard work to grow in both numbers and quality. The first result went way beyond our expectations even though in the weeks leading up to the event we had seen that the market was following our initiative closely. And that was what happened. We have invested in this market and intend to stay there for a long time.”
“Expo Riva Schuh India offered the possibility to develop an important network of contacts between Indian and international companies - declares Roney Simon, Managing Director IEPL, Italian Exposition Pvt ltd – even for higher price bracket companies - for the excellent number of visitors from large specialised chains interested in distribution agreements and boutiques wanting to differentiate with high-end products”.
Italian companies were positive too; for them this event was a strategic positioning moment for the Asian area.
After this initial success, the appointment is for the next edition to be held from 26 to 28 July 2012 still in the Pragati Maidan exhibition spaces in New Delhi.
