Lesley Waddy MSSF, the new President of The Society of Shoe Fitters is delighted that this year has seen a record number of students for the Society. “As a not-for-profit organisation established in 1959, we are passionate about ensuring proper education and training for those in the footwear industry to enable them to give optimum advice and expertise for the current and future health of our nation's feet.
We are therefore delighted to welcome so many new members and students this year”. For those who are already experienced fitters and deserve the qualified status of the Society to prove it, the Society also offers a special Entrance Examination. Lesley says “it's a shame there are existing shops without any Society members as it means we are unable to promote them, and due to increased radio and TV coverage this year it has been hugely beneficial to members and has also attracted larger companies to request information”. The Society offers support to members in many different ways and is currently backing the fight against GST on children's shoes in Jersey.
The Society is taking bookings for the next course starting October 1st 2007 now, and will have Entrance Examinations to take away at the Moda Footwear Fair - stand FK49, so for more information contact Laura West at secretary@shoefitters-uk.org.
