Shutopia to expand after independent store looses battle
Published: 01 August, 2007
Footwear Group Stylo aims to open 50 out of town “Shutopia” stores over the next 4 years, after winning a legal dispute with a retailer of the same name.
Stylo paid the store in Lancashire £37,500 for sole use of the name following an 18 month legal battle over the issue.
Stylo will launch an aggressive expansion programme after its trial launch was put on hold in 2005. Currently the brand has three stores in Belfast, Boreham Wood and Rotheram, as well as a high street store in Leicester. At least two 5,000 square foot stores are planned by the end of February next year.
The store sells Shellys, Barratts and branded shoes from Rocket Dog, Kickers and Sketchers.
