THE SLIPPER SPECIALISTS
Published:  23 January, 2008

Then you think Group Five Shoes, you think slippers.  Up to 300,000 single pairs are distributed every year via Gardiner Bros & Co (Leathers) Ltd of Gloucester and Tutte & Thomas of Southampton. This accounts for 25% of annual turnover for the Companies. It could be stated that they are the UK’s ‘Slipper Specialists’.

‘Our aim is to offer distinctive slipper ranges using the best factories, most comfortable lasts and premium materials. It is all about offering our customers great product and value for money. After all, this is what the end user wants’ expresses John Hickling of Tutte & Thomas.

‘At any one season we have up to 350 different styles and colour ways of slippers for ladies, men and children. All these are available loose from our stock. We really do offer fantastic variety across the brands that we carry’ adds Ben Gardiner.

With 5 established slipper brands, Group Five Shoes offers all the slippers a retailer could need.

GBS SLIPPERS

Born from Pirelli Slippers, GBS Slippers are still made in traditional manner. Nothing fits like the traditional last and sole unit of the GBS Slipper. The range includes the much loved Audrey and Odette and is available for men and women.

MIRAK CASUALS

Style, comfort and fit are the signature of the Mirak Casual collection. The range is lively and proves that new ideas really do boost sales of slippers and house shoes. Character slippers have been popular for a while and 2008 will see new additions to the collection.

MIRAK COMFORT

New for 2007! With premium velour and lining for supreme comfort, these vulcanised slippers have been a big success in 2007. The removable footbed also allows for an extra width fitting or an orthotic foot-bed to be inserted.

CINCASSA MENORCA

These specialist kid leather mules and slippers sell well through out the year and are available for both ladies and gents.

GROUP FIVE & COMFYLUX

The Group Five brand, binds the other brands together. The Group Five label offers excellent value and quality, with an eye to allowing great margin opportunity.

So what is in store for 2008 we ask? ‘We know that the brand mix and individual styling is successful’ states John Hickling. ‘For 2008 we will be adding new styles and we are also focusing on branding and boxing. It’s the finishing touches that can help sell the product though and be the difference between a good seller and a fantastic seller’.
