Wolky
Published:  20 February, 2008

Wolky's history goes back to the early 80s. Back then the Diks Shoe Stores sold a lot of comfort footwear. However, at the time these shoes were not fashionable. This prompted the company's founder, Kees Diks to develop a sandal line himself. After the introduction of the Wolky Nature line, the City line followed in 1989 with fashionable and colourful sandals with a revolutionary insole consisting of cork and memory foam. After this success, Wolky introduced several other shoes with removable insoles.

The well-known Dutch designer Charles Bergmans has been with Wolky from the beginning. By continuously developing innovative shoes, the Wolky collection today consists of more than 18 groups per season. This has resulted in a widely spread dealer-network throughout the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, France and the United Kingdom, and to provide its American customers with a constant supply, Wolky has set up its own factory in Mexico. For the European market, Wolky is collaborating with factories in Spain, Portugal and also the Far East.

To keep in touch with the needs of its consumers, Wolky opened its first Shop in Utrecht in 1995. The shop offers the entire Wolky collection. Due to its success, individual retailers have also started Wolky Shops in Amsterdam, Arnhem, Enschede, Haarlem, Leiden, Roermond, Zwolle, Dordrecht , Dusseldorf and is looking for a similar collaboration here in the UK.

Today Wolky has achieved good growth in all its markets and the UK is of no exception with very high sell through rates for Autum 2007 and a full order book for this coming season Wolky is set for further growth during 2008. To help achieve the back up and service Wolky retailers require they have recently opened a state of the art Warehouse facility in Ammerich on the Dutch German border which is purely to service the export countries.

Wolky will be presenting the Winter 08 collections at Moda Footwear Feb 14th-16th stand no FK14 and also at GDS Hall 12 Stand no D 48. The collections for the next Winter season will still retain the traditional Wolky signature styling but also will move into more dressy areas using soft patent and textured leathers to compliment this fresh and younger look, comfort however is not in jeopardy, the Wolky ethos is that comfort is paramount and styling is added once this has been achieved.

Winter 2008 Wolky will continue with the successful groups such as Roll Moc, Rolling Shoe, Western Comfort these will be complimented by a number of new groups two of which are Via and Melody. The Via line will be a Ballerina group offering 2 styles made in two tone leathers on wedge unit and the Melody line is dressy using Patent and textured leathers with covered heels and flexible soles to give much smarter and yet contemporary look, both groups will incorporate removeable insoles. Wolky provide quality POS material, a stock program and the support of a forward thinking company. So to really appreciate the Wolky Magic please come and see us at one of the venues mentioned above or alternatively contact the agent for your area.
