Legendary rock n roll icons Sid Vicious, Ian Curtis, MIA and Karen O were last night unveiled as the faces of Converse's exciting Connectivity advertising campaign to celebrate their centennial anniversary and 100 years of disrupting the status quo.
The flagship store, which is the brand's only stand-alone store in the UK and has been closed for several weeks, reopened last night with a stunning showcase of monochrome imagery and dark stripped wood flooring giving a classic Converse twist for 2008. Global icons include ultimate 20th Century rebel James Dean, Grammy nominated hip hop star and actor Common, style icon and journalist Jefferson Hack, face and sound of punk rock Sid Vicious, Karen O from the Yeah Yeah Yeah's, MIA, Ian Curtis and Dwayne Wade adorn the
windows and walls of the store, whilst black and white graffiti writing has been hand-painted in the stairwell, store walls and dressing areas to complement and reflect the brand's global ‘Connectivity' campaign.
Connectivity -which rolls out globally in February 2008 - celebrates the Converse centennial with an artistic showcase of true originals and disrupters who have defined and worn the brand throughout the past century. The advertising visually ‘connects' past and present Converse icons from the worlds of music, sport, art and fashion - brought together by their rebellion and love for the Chuck Taylor® shoe.
Both sneaker and style enthusiasts will be excited by the new-look store which houses exclusive Converse styles and limited edition collections only available at Carnaby St. Product lines include a premium clothing and footwear range by American designer John Varvatos, and hand-picked styles from the Converse 1HUND(RED)TM Artists, along with exclusive new colours and treatments of re-issued and vintage favourites including the One Star®, Pro Leather® and 1980's court classics. The stand-alone Converse store - which is part of Size - is located in Carnaby Street. For more information about Converse and its centennial celebrations visit http://www.converse.com/.
