Taking steps to help eams are already signing up for the Prima Solutions Adventure Challenge for the fashion and fashion retail industry on 21st June! Supported by Footwear Today, this one-day event will see teams from the industry hiking, biking and canoeing around the stunning Lake District to raise money for CARE International's essential work helping 55 million people in over 60 countries find a route out of poverty.
Now in its third year, the Challenge is a great team-builder as well as an ideal networking opportunity. Ethical Footwear firm Terra Plana were amongst the first teams to sign up for the challenge, and were delighted at the opportunity.
Says Team Leader Sara Natrass, "As a company we like to work together and relish in a challenge, the opportunity to raise money for a good cause and working closely as a team ... plus we all love being active and doing anything outdoors!"
The Terra Plana team have already set to work on their training for the event. Sara is not shying away from her Team Leader responsibilities, and is making sure her team are out of the office for an hour every lunchtime for a run or walk! "Most people are cycling to work and at weekends too, and I reckon we'll step it up nearer the time!" she adds.
Fundraising, too, is well beyond first gear for the Terra Plana team. Their Just Giving site is up and running, and Sara will be providing yoga lessons at the office for a fee, all of which will go towards the team's fundraising target of £2,500. With an imaginative array of fundraising activities planned, Sara is confident that the team will reach their fundraising goal: "We'll be e-mailing all our friends and family - and we're also planning on making use of our retail store to encourage people to donate."
CARE's in-house CARE Challenge Team, responsible for running all the events in the CARE Challenge Series, are pleased by the event recruitment so far. Says Challenge Manager Michele Evans, "We've got some great teams on board, including Marks and Spencer, USA Pro and ITE Moda with many other exciting companies due to sign up. We're confident the event is going to be a great success!"
Sara's team's enthusiasm is contagious, with much excitement building up around the event in the office. "There was no encouragement needed to get colleagues signed up- we had to fend them off and nearly had to have two teams! We're absolutely looking forward to it - we all can't wait to have a weekend full of activity and running up mountains in the Lakes!"
