Challenge yourself... Challenge poverty
Published:  15 May, 2008

The third Prima Solutions Adventure Challenge on 21st June is fast approaching! Teams are signing up and getting their boots on to train for the event, aimed exclusively at the fashion and fashion retail sectors. The Adventure Challenge will see teams from across the industry hiking, biking and canoeing in the stunning setting of the Southern Lake District. As well as being a fantastic and demanding team builder and a great networking event, the efforts of each team's fundraising are all for a remarkable cause.

CARE International, one of the top three aid and development agencies in the world, works in over sixty countries to help around 55 million of the world's poorest people to find a route out of poverty. CARE is amongst the first to respond in the case of an emergency, and remains around long after the cameras have left. Underpinned by the principle of defending dignity and fighting poverty and a mission to create lasting change, CARE commits to the communities it serves until the job is done.

CARE has over 60 years of experience of working with communities to tackle poverty from its very roots, fighting to change the causes of poverty and not just the consequences. CARE's overseas projects are many and diverse, and include working on helping farmers to grow their own food, educating marginalised children, helping people start their own small businesses- and countless other projects around the world which invest in people's futures, allowing them to raise themselves out of poverty.

For many participants of the Prima Solutions Adventure Challenge, this is inspiration enough to get the walking boots on, dust the old bike off and get out of the City and into the Great Outdoors! Says Jamie Blakesley, Team Leader of an intrepid bunch from clothing company

USA PRO, "The opportunity to raise money for a good cause combined with meeting like-minded people is the perfect reason to train, get fit and do something challenging."

Jamie's team are making tracks with their training for the event. "Like most training programs, it's slow to start off with, but we're all trying to do more and more progressively... and we're confident that we'll complete the challenge!"

CARE's in-house CARE Challenge Team, who have been organising and running outdoor fundraising events for thirteen years, offer all teams support and advice with both training and fundraising. Says CARE Challenge Manager Michele Evans, "We're with teams every step of the way, from sign-up to safety on the day, and can guarantee a professionally run, fun challenge- with a great party at the end to celebrate teams' achievements!"

The USA PRO team, who are back for more after taking part in the Prima Solutions Adventure Challenge last year, are looking forward to the challenge. Says Jamie, "For some of us last year's event is still close in our memories- it really was a challenge in the real sense of the word! But put it all together- the training, the camaraderie, the fundraising for such a great cause- it's all worth it!"
