Rockport is getting a sporty new feel. The Canton, Mass.-based company announced last week that it would be launching a collection of men’s dress, casual and outdoor shoes that incorporate parent company Adidas’ Torsion technology for fall ’07.
Torsion, launched by Adidas in 1989, is a lightweight arch support system. Its inclusion in the Rockport line will allow the forefoot and rearfoot of the shoes to move independently. The line will include 25 to 30 styles, with prices ranging from $120 to $200, and will be available at specialty and independent retailers in September.
"Adidas Torsion is a globally recognized and respected symbol for innovation and performance, with more than 50 million pairs sold worldwide," Rick Paterno, president and CEO of Rockport, said in a statement. "This collaboration speaks to the unique partnership we have established with Adidas and our unwavering passion and commitment to the design and construction of high-quality, fashionable comfort footwear."
