Start-rite has launched its transactional website, the first of its kind to be introduced by a fitted children's shoe company in the UK.
Following extensive research carried out in 2007, Start-rite identified strong consumer demand for fitted children's shoes to be available online. Working with e-commerce specialists Digivate, Start-rite has developed an innovative transactional website that will enable parents to measure their children's feet at home, and purchase shoes online.
Startriteshoes.com will give parents detailed, easy to follow instructions and advice on how to measure their children's feet and fit shoes, along with a comprehensive FAQ section and contact details for Start-rite's expert customer service team. Parents will be able to view 360 degree images and find product descriptions for Start-rite's extensive collection online, as well as access to advice on all aspects of child foot health.
The increased brand awareness generated by the new site should benefit both retailers and the wholesale business by expanding the consumer base, and
Start-rite will continue to work in partnership with its retailers to offer maximum choice to consumers, through multi-channel retailing.
The new startriteshoes.com will still offer a dedicated retailer section for wholesale ordering and marketing support, and the stockist search facility remains a key element of the improved site.
David Attwood, joint managing director, Start-rite Shoes said: "This is a very exciting time for Start-rite. We have spent a lot of time and investment on the research and subsequent development of the website, and we are extremely pleased with the results. Our research tells us that today's consumer has different shopping habits, and we know that online sales in the UK are predicted to triple over the next five years, so we are confident that this move is the right one for the Start-rite brand. Quite simply, this is a retail channel that no-one can afford to ignore and as the acknowledged expert in children's fitted footwear, we are now extending that expertise beyond wholesale into online retailing."
