Podiatrist Kate Millns wants to see everyone in the peak of health ...well at least as far as their feet and lower limbs are concerned. "In the pink", it might be said.
She also sees pink as having a healthy connotation, to be funky, contemporary and not the least bit boring grey; and a way to make feet a more engaging topic!
So it is perhaps not so unusual that when establishing a Website dedicated to all products and services involving the feet and lower limbs – and bearing in mind that pink is her favourite colour – she should choose the domain name of pinkfeet.co.uk.
Kate, from Moseley in Birmingham, who both practises and lectures in podiatry, which in its simpler form used to be known as chiropody, realised that there was a pressing need for a one-stop-shop, a portal to suppliers of products and relating to the feet at a single click..
"People, young and old, just do not realise how important the lower limbs are to their wellbeing," she explained.
"Lots of people get back problems, it is a big cause of absenteeism, and it can sometimes start with the feet. Fallen arches, for instance, can cause internal rotation of the knees followed by anterior disruption of the hips, leading to curvature of the lower spine and a flexed neck."
