Madrid now ranks third in the ranking of global congress cities, presented by the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) for 2018. According to the ranking, the events held in the Spanish city increased by 7.8%, with 165 congresses held in 2018. IFEMA’s contribution to the Conventions and Congresses activity, hosting 8 large international exhibition conferences last year and more than 700 events, meetings and various other functions, has helped to achieve this position.

In turn, Barcelona is ranked fourth and now forms part, together with Madrid, of the “top 5” of the classification, ahead of important cities such as Berlin, London or Singapore.

It is worth noting that Spain also occupies the third position in this area, with 595 congresses in 2018, behind the United States and Germany and ahead of France, the United Kingdom and Italy. This leadership position indicates Spain’s capacity to host these types of events, thanks to its excellent infrastructures and the quality of the services provided for the professionals attending the events.
