Interview with Kelly Brooks
1. How do you feel about continuing to work with Skechers this year?
I was so excited when Skechers wanted me to work with them for another year because I love the brand and I love the shoes. It feels fantastic and obviously I enjoy coming to Los Angeles, and especially visiting Manhattan Beach where the company headquarters are. I get to see all of the Skechers family and be part of such a fantastic brand. Plus they give me lots of nice shoes!
2. How will this new campaign differ from the previous Skechers Memory Foam campaign you were fronting last year?
I love this new campaign because it has some similarities to the first campaign. When you put on Skechers Memory Foam shoes they’re so comfortable it gives you this dream-like experience. It’s like you’re in heaven, so we’ve recreated that in a different way this time. We’re also bringing back some familiar faces from the previous campaign, so that’s nice.
3. What’s your favourite thing about Skechers shoes?
My favourite thing about Skechers is they are so fearless in their designs. They really just go for it and offer so many different varieties of shoes. I love the fact that you can have a sporty look or a pretty floral look that’s very colorful, or just simple black. There’s basically a different pair of Skechers that will coordinate with every outfit in your closet and I love the variety.
4. How has your personal style evolved through the years?
I’ve had a lot of changes in my personal style. In the 90s I used to love jumpsuits – like the Jennifer Lopez look with big gold earrings and things like that. Then I evolved into a 1950s style that’s more prim. At the moment my style is more casual – I guess I’ve been influenced by the L.A. lifestyle. I like to wear jeans and jean shorts. That’s why Skechers is such a great fit for me, because it represents my current style and how I live my life. I think as you get older you don’t want to be in high heels all of the time. It’s much cooler and fashionable to be comfortable and just feel great.
5. What is your go-to outfit that you like to wear with the new Skechers Breathe Easy collection?
Skechers Breathe Easy shoes look great with little shirts or T-shirts, cut-off denim shorts or cropped jeans. Anything that’s summery, loose and casual but still quite on-trend.
6. What makes you feel confident?
I think confidence comes from within – like when you feel fit and healthy. Also having nice skin and looking well naturally. I don’t like it when I’m wearing too much makeup or my hair is overly styled – anything that looks like a lot of effort. I prefer a casual and laid back look, which is why I love the whole California vibe.
7. Have you been traveling a lot recently?
Not at the moment – I’ve actually been spending a lot of time in England recently. I live on a little farm out in the countryside. I’ve been there a lot this past year which has been fantastic. But my schedule always changes and I never know where I’m going to be next. I could be on location tomorrow for shoot, then on a plane the next day off to somewhere else. Today I’m happy to be in beautiful Malibu, California.
8. How does it feel to be back in Los Angeles for this Skechers shoot?
Los Angeles is one of my favorite places – especially Manhattan Beach and Malibu. The beach lifestyle is wonderful.
9. What projects are you working on next?
I’m working on numerous TV projects in the UK and I still come to America a lot for television and things like that. Obviously I’m still partnering with Skechers for these new campaigns. When you’re working as a model and an actress things change a lot and every day is different – that’s why I love it.
