David Spencer, schuh’s Buying Director, will leave the business after 21 years of service.

David joined the business initially as Men’s Buyer and was subsequently promoted to Buying Director in 2008. In 2011 David was asked to take on the additional responsibilities of Marketing and became Product and Marketing Director. David held this role until May 2018 when he handed over his marketing remit to the new Chief
Marketing Officer, Alice Cleary.

David started at schuh when the business traded from 17 stores and was pre internet. Over his 21 years with schuh, the business has grown substantially and is now trading from 136 stores and has developed into a genuine multi-channel retailer.

Colin Temple, schuh’s Managing Director, said: “We’ve agreed that David will leave the business with immediate effect and we wish him well in any future endeavours. It is appropriate that we take this opportunity to convey our sincere thanks and respect for David’s efforts and to highlight his part over the last 21 years to the success of the business that we recognise today as schuh.“

David has made a hugely significant contribution over many years to the success of schuh. He leaves a highly talented and motivated team who will work with the business to evolve the Buying structure moving forward.
