Selection International Show” in Hangzhou, China before heading to Hong Kong, where it also received the “Grand Award” in the 2017 Design for Asia Awards.

Albizzate (Varese, Italy), 13 December 2017 – Vibram®, world-leading producer of high-performance rubber soles, gains more major recognition for its product Vibram® FUROSHIKI The Wrapping Sole. The shoe has won the ADI Compasso d’Oro International Award, with two prizes in Milan and Hangzhou (China), and the “Grand Award” in the Design for Asia Awards 2017.

The concept of FUROSHIKI The Wrapping Sole by Vibram® is once again acknowledged as unique in the field of footwear. This is, in fact, the first shoe to take inspiration – and name – from the Japanese art of furoshiki, and effectively wrap the foot, providing a personalised fit and exceptional comfort for any foot morphology. Thanks to state-of-the-art production techniques, Vibram has well and truly revolutionised footwear design to create a shoe whose ergonomic uppers, made in Eurojersey Sensitive® fabrics, are a direct extension of the sole, which is made in Vibram XS City compound to ensure durability and grip on urban surfaces, even when wet.

During the official celebration tour, Vibram received the prizes in the second edition of the ADI Compasso d’Oro International Award competition, dedicated to “Sport – Performance and Innovation”, which brings the quality criteria of the Compasso d’Oro to world design. In a double ceremony, the prize-giving took place on Friday 1st December at the Museum of Science and Technology in Milan, and Tuesday 5th December in Hangzhou, China, as part of the “ADI Selection International Exhibition in China”. FUROSHIKI The Wrapping Sole by Vibram® was also
exhibited at Hong Kong’s Convention & Exhibition Centre from 7th to 9th December.

On Wednesday 6th December, Vibram received a further prize in the spectacular setting of the Hong Hong Convention & Exhibition Centre (HKCEC): at an event organised by Hong Kong DFA “Design for Asia Awards”, FUROSHIKI The
Wrapping Sole by Vibram® was honoured with the “Grand Award”, which acknowledges the best product in terms of
design, influence in Asia and commercial success. 2017, which has seen Vibram celebrate the eightieth anniversary of its iconic “Carrarmato” lug sole, the original design of the firm’s founder Vitale Bramani in 1937, concludes with enormous satisfaction for the entire Vibram community.
